Big Butte, also called the “M Hill,” is one of Butte’s most significant natural landmark and the namesake of our community.
About 2 miles west of the uptown Butte business district, the open space park is lined with miles of multi-use trails. The summit of Big Butte offers stunning 360 degree views of town and the surrounding landscape.
This is a very popular area for hiking, mountain biking, and snowshoeing, so you’ll likely encounter other people while exploring. The trail is open year-round and is beautiful to visit anytime. Dogs are welcome, on a leash. Enjoy!
